Discount codes

Discount codes

1. Who can manage codes

Owners and managers can add, edit and delete discount codes, from the event editor's
Discount codes section. Door and viewer roles can't see or change them.

2. Add a code

Choose Add a discount code, give it a Code, and pick a Discount type: Fixed
amount off each ticket
or Percentage off each ticket. A code is per event, and
codes are case-insensitive — SAVE10 and save10 are the same code.

3. Choose which ticket types it applies to

Under Which ticket types?, choose Every ticket type or Only these types and
tick the ones it should discount. There's no whole-order discount — a code always takes
money off individual tickets, never off add-ons or the order as a whole.

4. Set a window and a use limit

Active from and Active until are both optional — leave either blank for no start
or end date. Maximum redemptions is also optional, and counts orders that redeem
the code, not tickets: one order for six tickets uses the code once.

5. What a buyer sees

At checkout, a buyer enters the code in Discount code (optional), applied per ticket,
where it's eligible. A ticket type it doesn't apply to is charged in full. Prices shown on
the public event page are always the undiscounted, fee-inclusive price — the discount only
appears once a valid code is entered.

6. How the discount and the fee interact

The booking fee is recalculated from the discounted ticket price, using the normal
fee tiers — a bigger discount can drop a ticket into a lower fee band, or to no fee at
all. A ticket discounted all the way to £0 is free: no booking fee, and no Stripe charge.
For a percentage code, the discount itself is rounded down to the nearest penny, so you
never receive less than the stated percentage implies — it's the buyer's price that rounds
up by a penny, not your take.

7. Redemptions, refunds and deleting a code

The order detail page shows the code used and how much it saved. Refunding a ticket
refunds what the buyer actually paid for it — the discounted price, not the full price.
A code that's already been used on an order can't be deleted, to keep that order's history
intact — untick Active to stop new redemptions instead.
